Practicing Presence:

Somatic Movement and the Mind/Body Connection

A 6-week Movement based Expressive Arts Zoom Workshop

Each week I invite you to come as you are. To show up as your authentic self: excited, angry, numb, anxious, proud, strong, curious, energized. Each week I invite you to listen, feel and notice the spoken and unspoken, the internal and external and to make visible the invisible.

Often the New Year brings desires, dreams begin to germinate. With the colder weather, we tend to go within, to dig a bit deeper in order to plant the seeds for growth and change, and a deep desire to identify something in one’s life that no longer serves.

Through improvisational movement, journal writings, drawings/paintings, sharing and witnessing, we will practice presence with ourselves and each other.

Showing up is our power. Story is our way home. Truth is our song. We are the brave and brokenhearted. We are rising strong.

WHAT YOU WILL GAIN FROM THIS WORKSHOP SERIES

Through movement based expressive arts, drama therapy and other somatic practices you will learn tools and resources to help regulate the nervous system, help identify personal needs and wants and give permission for your voice, dance and images to be felt, heard and witnessed.

A series of Life/Art® questions will be presented. You will be guided to reflect on their meaning and messages through embodied movement and art making. From these discoveries, you will connect with what's most alive in your world, harvesting resources to take into your daily life.

You are always welcome to bring a theme that you want to focus on to this practice. If this is true for you, I offer a 30 minute free call to hear what you would like to focus on so that I can best support your personal journey.

WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR:

  • All identified women seeking a body-based approach to discovering, excavating her felt presence through the expressive arts.

  • No experience necessary. Shy creatives welcome!

When we slow down to sense surroundings and feel our bodies we can regulate our nervous system to help regulate emotional states of being. We know we need time, more than a few minutes, to cultivate deep listening. We know that we can do this alone AND how we must engage with others to know we are part of something bigger.
